Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and x (x, x), which runs ChickenLink at chickenlink.org. By using ChickenLink you accept these terms, the Content Policy and the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. What ChickenLink does

ChickenLink turns long web addresses into short links. When someone opens a short link, a short animation plays and the visitor is sent to the original address. Some features are free and some are paid extras.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old to create links. Anyone can open a short link without an account.

• Without an account you can create free links only (random name and the Classic Hen). They stop working 30 days after creation, and you can't edit, delete or track them. We limit how many you can create per hour.
• With a Google account your links don't expire, you can see their clicks and delete them, and you can buy the paid extras. You are responsible for everything created with your account.

3. Your links

• You keep responsibility for every link you create and every chicken message you write.
• Your links must follow the Content Policy. We can disable any link, and suspend any account, that breaks it, without notice and without a refund.
• Link names are first come, first served. We can take back a name that impersonates a brand, a person or ChickenLink itself.
• If you have an account, you can delete your links at any time from My links. A deleted link stops working immediately. To remove a link you made without an account, write to us.
• Click counts are approximate. We don't count bots or repeat visits from the same browser within 30 minutes.

4. Paid extras and prices

Paid extras are: a custom link name (€1), special courier chickens (from €2), a chicken message (€1), a leaderboard listing (€2) and Top of the Coop for 24 hours (€5). Prices are in euro and include VAT where applicable. You pay once per link; there are no subscriptions.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Your receipt is sent by email.

5. Leaderboard approval

Links bought with a leaderboard listing or Top of the Coop only appear in the public ranking after an admin approves them. We decide at our discretion and may reject links that are misleading, offensive, commercial spam or otherwise unsuitable for a public page, even if they are allowed as plain short links. If we reject a listing, we refund the listing fee and the Top of the Coop fee to your card. The rest of the order stays valid and your link keeps working.

Top of the Coop starts when the listing is approved and lasts 24 hours. We can remove an approved link from the leaderboard later if it starts breaking the Content Policy.

6. Right of withdrawal and refunds

If you are a consumer in the European Union you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Our extras are digital content delivered immediately. Before paying, you ask us to deliver your link immediately and confirm that you lose your right of withdrawal once it is delivered (EU Directive 2011/83, Article 16(m)).

You still get a refund when:

• an admin rejects your leaderboard listing (listing and Top fees refunded automatically);
• the link never worked because of a fault on our side;
• you were charged twice or charged the wrong amount.

No refund is due when a link is disabled because it broke the Content Policy, or when you delete it yourself. To ask for a refund, write to x@chickenlink.org within 30 days of payment.

7. Availability

We try to keep ChickenLink running all the time but can't promise it will never be down. We may change, add or remove features, couriers and prices. Price changes never affect links you already paid for.

Short links are meant to keep working for as long as ChickenLink runs. If we ever close the service, we will announce it on the site at least 60 days in advance.

8. Our responsibility

ChickenLink is provided as it is. We don't control the websites short links point to and are not responsible for their content. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under the law, or our liability for gross negligence or intent. Otherwise, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. For important changes we'll show a notice on the site before they apply. If you keep using ChickenLink after that, the new terms apply.

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Romanian law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the law of the country where you live. Disputes go to the competent courts in Romania, unless the law gives you the right to go to your local court. EU consumers can also use the EU consumer redress platform and, in Romania, the consumer protection authority ANPC.
